How often should I visit my dentist for an exam and cleaning?
We recommend that you visit us at least every 6 months for regular exams and cleanings. However, the frequency of your visits may depend on your particular needs.
Why is it important to get regular dental exams?
Yes, fillings are designed to restore damaged or decayed teeth, offering a functional solution. Veneers, on the other hand, focus on enhancing the aesthetics of the front surface of teeth.
What’s the difference between regular cleaning and deep cleaning?
Regular cleanings are typically performed every 6 months as part of your routine dental checkup. During a regular cleaning, we’ll remove plaque and tartar buildup from the surface of your teeth and polish them.
Deep cleanings (also called scaling and root planing) are more extensive cleanings that may be recommended if you have gum disease. During a deep cleaning, we clean both the surface of your teeth and below the gum line to remove bacteria and plaque buildup. Deep cleanings are often split up into multiple appointments.
When should I bring my child for their first dental checkup?
We’d love to care for your little one! The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that children have their first dental checkup by the age of 1 or within 6 months after the first tooth erupts, whichever comes first.
